Credits and Usage

Subscription credits, extra credits, usage tracking, and settings for using them.

Credits are the shared unit of usage for Praktik’s AI-powered features. This guide explains how to check your balance, purchase extra credits, and manage their use in your account.

Subscription credits and extra credits

You receive subscription credits every month as part of your subscription. Unused monthly credits do not carry over when the allowance renews. You purchase extra credits as needed. They do not expire and remain available in future months until you use them.

Subscription credits Extra credits
How you get them Included in your subscription. Purchased separately.
Renewal Renew every month. Purchased only when you choose to buy them.
Carry-over Unused monthly credits do not carry over. Do not expire and remain available until used.

The size of your monthly allowance depends on your subscription:

Subscription Monthly credits Price per user with monthly billing
Free 500 €0
Education 2,000 €10 / month
Plus 5,000 €35 / month
Pro 10,000 €60 / month

Prices exclude VAT. With annual billing, Plus costs €31.50 and Pro €54 per user per month. See pricing for current prices and terms.

What credits are used for

Credits are used by AI features including chat, legal research, document processing and analysis, translations, workflows, tabular analysis, and chats and actions in the Word add-in.

Usage is not a fixed amount per message or document. It depends on the type and scope of processing, the model used, the amount of source material, the conversation context, and the steps the agent performs. A short question may therefore use more credits if answering it requires the agent to process extensive materials.

Tokens are not credits. To understand how a model works with text and context, see How we calculate costs: tokens and credits.

Check your usage

  1. Open Settings → Usage, or go directly to the usage overview.
  2. Under Credits, check usage from your monthly allowance and its renewal date.
  3. Under Extra credits, check your extra credit balance.

The monthly allowance renews according to your billing period, not necessarily on the first day of the calendar month. Refer to the date shown in the application. Unused monthly credits are not added to the new allowance when it renews. Your extra credit balance carries over, and monthly credits are once again used first.

Purchase extra credits

Extra credit purchases are available for paid personal plans.

  1. In Usage, click Add funds.
  2. In the Add extra credits dialog, choose an amount within the range shown in the application.
  3. Click Continue and provide billing details if requested.
  4. Complete payment on the checkout page.
  5. Return to Usage and check your extra credit balance and the purchase status in the purchase history.

Extra credits do not expire. If you do not use all of them for your current task, they remain available for later.

Enable or disable extra credit usage

In Usage, check whether Enable extra credit usage is on.

  • On: after your subscription credits run out, you can continue with available extra credits.
  • Off: after your subscription credits run out, further usage stops rather than drawing from extra credits. Your purchased extra credit balance remains available.

Enabling extra credit usage allows you to spend extra credits, not purchase them automatically. Reaching your limit does not trigger an automatic payment or an unexpected bill at the end of the month.

When your monthly credits run out

  • If you have extra credits and want to use them, check that Enable extra credit usage is on.
  • If you need more capacity, you can purchase extra credits.
  • If you do not want to purchase extra credits, you can wait for your monthly allowance to renew. The date is shown under Credits.

If you started a purchase but did not complete it, check its status in the purchase history. For a payment or balance issue, contact support.
