Every contract you need to review. Every file you need to prepare. Every document you must analyze. Praktik lets you upload your own documents and work with them across the application - from analysis in chat to contract review.
What are documents in Praktik
Documents in Praktik are persistent source files stored in your project’s document library. You can upload almost any common business file format, not only PDFs or Word files. Praktik currently provides dedicated viewers for:
- Word documents (.docx, .doc)
- PDF files - digital or scanned
- Images
- Presentations
- Spreadsheets
- HTML files
- Plain-text files
Common files can be stored, viewed and referenced in Praktik. The formats supported by a particular workflow can differ, so not every application feature treats every format identically. Operations outside standard PDF and Word document processing - including file transformation and creation - are handled through Praktik Worker.
Scanned PDFs
Scanned PDFs are supported. OCR extracts their text, while visual analysis can inspect scans, layout and image content. Always verify OCR results and visual interpretation against the original document, especially where accuracy matters.
Chat documents and project documents
Project documents and folders belong to a project. Project members can reuse them across chats, Tabular Review, contract review and other workflows without uploading the same files again.
A chat document is a working output created or revised during a conversation. It does not replace the original project document in the project library. Keep project documents separate from documents created in chat, and review the result before using it.
Document interface
Each document has its own detail page with several sections:
1. Document viewers and extracted content
You can open a document directly in Praktik using the viewer available for its format. Text extracted from supported files can be searched and referenced, while PDF previews preserve the original formatting.
2. Extracted contract parties
Praktik identifies contract parties in the document automatically. You see the name and registration number if they are Slovak companies.
3. Business register connection
For each contract party, you can view details from the business register - current data, directors, statutory representatives and history of changes.
4. Document description
Praktik automatically generates a document description based on its content. You can see what it is about without having to read the entire document.
5. Chat with document
Directly from the document detail, you can start a conversation that concerns only this document. Questions are answered using the context of this document - no other sources are used. References point to specific parts of the document.
Uploading documents
Where to upload documents
In the main menu, go to the Documents section. You will see all uploaded documents and folders, as well as the option to upload new files or a folder tree.
One or multiple documents
Click Upload and select files from your computer. You can upload:
- One document - for a quick upload of a single file
- Multiple documents at once - select multiple files simultaneously
- A folder tree - upload a folder with its nested folders and files
When you upload a folder tree, Praktik retains its structure. You can later move the folder and its contents, or select the folder as a whole instead of selecting each file individually.
Document processing
After uploading, Praktik processes each file as supported by its format:
- Text is extracted - including OCR for scanned PDFs
- Visual content is analyzed where applicable - including scans, layout and images
- Content is indexed - for fast searching and referencing
- The file is ready to use - in the workflows that support its format
You can see the processing status for each file. When processing is complete, the file is immediately usable. Verify OCR and visual analysis against the original where the distinction matters.
Size limit: The maximum document size is 100 MB.
Managing documents
Folders
Create folders and organize documents by client, contract type, project or any other criteria. Folders are part of the project library, so project members can reuse them across supported workflows.
Moving documents and folders
You can move documents between folders with drag and drop - grab a document and drag it to the target folder. You can also move or select a folder as a whole, together with its nested structure and files.
You can also:
- Move a document from one folder to another - drag it to the new folder
- Move a document to the root level - drag it outside all folders
- Move multiple documents at once - select multiple documents and drag them together
- Move a folder tree - move the folder and keep its nested structure
Using folders in chat
Folders can be used directly in chat. Instead of selecting individual documents, select the entire folder - all files in it will be part of the conversation context, subject to the capabilities of the relevant workflow.
Security
Documents are encrypted during transfer and storage. They are processed and stored exclusively within the EU. They are not publicly available and are never used to train models.
Security More about security and data protectionUsing documents in the application
Uploaded project documents and folders can be reused across the application. There is no need to upload the same source files multiple times.
Chat with documents
Select documents or folders directly in chat and ask a question. Praktik analyzes your query along with the selected sources and responds with references to specific parts.

Tabular Review can process dozens to hundreds of documents at once and extract structured data into a clear table. Each extracted data point links back to the source in the original document. Due diligence is one use case for this workflow.

For file transformations, generated files and other operations outside standard PDF and Word document processing, use Praktik Worker. Worker processes the files you provide and returns an output for your review.
