Export styles are reusable formatting presets for text-based generated documents in project chat. They are selected in the generated document’s Export dialog and are applied to its PDF or Word (.docx) export.
Where to manage styles
Open Settings → Export styles. The page lists your personal styles and, when you work in an organization, styles shared with that organization.
What an export style controls
A style can control:
- the font, size, bold, italic, color, and alignment of body text;
- the same text controls for Heading 1, Heading 2, and Heading 3; Heading 3 also controls lower heading levels;
- page format (A4 or Letter) and page margins;
- whether citations are included; and
- whether page numbers appear in the footer.
There are no controls for a custom header, footer text, or logo. The built-in Praktik preset includes its own Praktik footer logo, but a saved style cannot add or replace a logo. The only saved footer setting is page numbers; the page-number control is shown in the generated-document Export dialog rather than as a separate control in the saved-style detail page.
Create, edit, and delete a style
- Select New style. Praktik creates a personal style with the standard starting values.
- Open the style, give it a clear name, choose Only me or Whole organization, and set the formatting controls.
- Turn on Use as default if this should be selected automatically for your exports.
- Select Save.
Open a style card to edit it. Select Delete on the list or in the style detail to remove a style you created.
Import typography from a Word document
The style editor includes Import style from Word. Upload a .docx example, choose one of its extracted paragraph or character styles, and apply it to body text or a heading level. You can then adjust the resulting values and save the Praktik style.
The editor’s live preview is a built-in sample document. It does not preview the Word file uploaded for extraction; that file is used only to read its style information.
Personal and organization styles
A personal style is visible only to its creator. A style marked Whole organization is visible to members of that organization and can be selected as an export preset.
Any member working in an active organization can create a style shared with that organization and can set it as the organization default. The creator remains the only person who can edit or delete that particular shared style. Setting a style as default replaces the existing default in the same scope.
Defaults and precedence
A default is selected automatically when you open the generated document Export dialog.
- Your active personal default takes precedence over the organization’s active default.
- If you have no personal default, the active organization default is used.
- If neither a personal nor an organization default is set, Praktik uses its built-in Praktik style.
Saving a style does not make it a default by itself. A non-default personal or organization style can still be chosen manually in the Export dialog.
Select and apply a style to an export
Open a generated document in a project chat and select Export. In the dialog:
- Choose the Praktik preset, a saved personal style, an organization style, or Custom.
- Review the live preview and adjust the available text, page, citation, and page-number controls if needed.
- Choose Word or PDF and export the document.
Changing controls in that dialog changes the current export. It does not overwrite the selected saved style. If you want to reuse the adjusted settings, use Save style to create a new personal style.
Export styles apply to the PDF and Word output of text-based generated-document exports. They do not change the source content of a generated document.
